THE SOLDIERS’ MEMORIAL.
(To..the Editor.)
Sir.—May I take up a little of your valuable space, in a .suggestion which concerns all interested in a memorial to our fallen -soldiers. It has been suggested - by Borough Council that a monument which is under offer to ...them. be, purchased at the sum of £300.' Now,- sir, what is to' prevent us spending;that mo-ney in an' improvement that is •• crying out every day to be done, viz/' a front on our at present not very’ imposing Council Chambers, with .a gable or arch at the entrance, 'suitably . inscribed. It would be an acquisition , to’ 1 the town, and the memorial would he in a . prominent position, and, to my. way of thinking would'be a more fitting way of commemorating the memory of the fallen. -B would like-some of your readers to'express their views on this suggestion.—l am, etc., . . -INTERESTED.
