LEVIN RINKS VISIT SHANNON
On Saturday afternoon, four rinks from Levin engaged Shannon in a friendly game on the latter club’s green. The weather was fine and the green in splendid condition, and a thoroughly enjoyable series of games were played, Levin eventually winning by the: harrow margin of one point. Levin was lucky to secure the victory, losing as they did two games and drawing a< third. The splendid score put up by Rankin’s rink, however, pulled them through. Both the Hawke-Murphy and the Brown-Gag-liardi games were extremely well contested, victory only being decided by the last shot, alter an exciting engagement. !
The scores were as follows, the Levin rinks being given first:—
Clements, sen., Mickell, Pyke, Brown (s) 18, v. Watterston, Cobper, Quarrie,. Gagliardi (s) 18, Derharn, Blackburn, Ryder, Clements (s) 14, v. Blight, Voysey, Spencer, Knowles (s) 26. Roe, Anderson, Wilson, Rankin (s) 28, v. Butt, Hensman, E. Butt, Roach (s) 13. Ingram, Tail, Channings, I-lawke (s) y 2l, v. Gardner, Bovis, Whibley, Murphy (s) 23. Total: Levin 81, Shannon 80. The return game will be played in Levin about ■ the 24th.
Owing to the unavoidable absence of the president, Mr E. Spencer welcomed the visitors. Mr J. D. Brown, on behalf of the Levin players, thanked the local club for their hospitality, also the ladies for providing refreshments.
