V.R.C. MEETING. EURYTHMIC BEATEN BY OUTSIDER. (Received- Thursday 8 p.m.) ' MELBOURNE, March 8. For the third day of the. V.R.C. autumn meeting the weather was fine and bright, and the attendance large. The State 1 Governor was among those present. Rahdo, which was fourth early in the race, won - the Hurdles well from Mnecular, who was last at the five furlongs peg. The favourite, British Arch, was third. Harrison replaced Dempsey as the rider on Eurythmic in the Lloyd Stakes. An outsider, Maid of the Mist, led over the last'six and a-half furlongs, and won nicely from Eurythmic, who was ridden out with the whip; Eeasingwold was a bad third. The time, 1.37 , is a record, the last half mile being covered in 47 \ seconds, and the last five furlongs in 581, and the last six furlongs in I.IIJ. Eurythmic kicked Salatis at the post. Maid of the Mist is related to Desert Gold.
Rivoli, -which was last to the straight, finished best, in the Governor’s Plate, and won by a head from Harvest King, who led for a long way. The last six furlongs were covered in and the last four in 475. The Autumn Handicap winner was King's Battery, brother to Artilleryman. The time oLthe race, 2.48, is a course record. Results:— Autumn Hurdles.—Rahda 10.2 1, Mnecular 9.2, British Arch 11.0 3. Eight started. Won by a length, a neck between second and ■ third. Time, 4.45.
C. M. Lloyd Stakes.—Maid of the Mist (W. Johnstone) 1, Eurythmic (G. Harrison) 2, Easingwold (F. Dempsey) 3. Salatis also ran. Won by three-quarters of a length, five lengths between second and third. Time, 1.375, a record for the race. Governor’s Plate.—Rivoli (W. Johnstone) 1, Harvest King (W. Duncan) 2, The Cypher (V.
