ST. PATRICK’S DAY SPORTS.
v DOMINION COUNCIL WILL NOT AGREE TO INVITATIONS TO CARR AND KIRKSEY. [ WELLINGTON, Last Night. At a meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Council to-night, a letter was received from the St. Patrick’s Day Athletic Sports Association, Christchurch, asking that Carr be allowed to compete at its meeting on March 18 and 17, and as a result of this the following telegram was received from Mr A. C. Kittp, Auckland: “Carr accepts, provided Kirksey invited. Same expenses and arrangements. Kirksey willing to compete; get Council’s consent.” The Southern Association agreed to include Kirksey in the invitation and to-night the matter came up for consideration. The discussion was taken in committee, and the following resolution passed: “That as the tour of the visiting athletes is now complete, the application of the Christchurch St. Patrick’s Day Athletic Sports Committee in asking Carr and Kirksey to be allowed to compete at the meeting be not agreed to.”
