OBITUARY.
■ GEORGE EDWARD THOMAS. Yesterday’s Leyln Chronicle says:— It is with the deepest feelings of sorrow we record the death to-day of Mr George Edward Thomas, of the "Chronicle” liierary .staff, which occurred this morning, after a brief attack of pneumonia, following upon a chill taken at- tlm, beginning, of last week. He had been confined to his room since Friday, and though it was known that he was. seriously ill, the end was not expected so suddenly. Writing under a poignant sense of persona Moss, we cannot do more today than express the deepest sym- ;• pathy with the bereaved wife and ' family, a feeling that, we know, wnbe shared by the whole community, in which the late Mr Thomas was held in general esteem. The funeral: will take place in Levin on Saturday Mr Thomas was well known and popular in Shannon, fcoth in cricket . Circles and in the interests of the Shannon News. ?
