General.—-The above tenders close,'

in the case of No. 1 on March 15, and the remainder on April 16; but ■it " seems from recent 1 announcements that power will not be available by the end' of this year, and should this ’ be official. I think-it would be advisable to delay the deliveries of material about three months, and minate interest charges as much as

possible. In the near future it. will he necessary to secure 'the services of an electrical engineering draughtsman, and I would like authority to secure a rndn.

Sifb-station. Site, Shannon.—As instructed at last Board meeting, I inspected the site under offer loathe , Board,,ln company with Mr Gunning. Provided the figure asked is in accordance with values in Shannon, I would recommend the purchase of same. Mr Gunning is of opinion that the offer is a fair one. The chairman said Mr Overton’s suggestion regarding the delay of the deliveries of material about three months would mean a saving of £4OO

in interest, which was a consideration.. Mr Kilsby aSked would it be advisable to delay deliveries. The chairman said the Engineer was, thoroughly in' touch with every phase of the work, and his recommendation was not made without due consideration. Mr “Seifert said if the delay would throw the work out of its stride, it would mean losing more' than £4OO. The Engineer explained that the de- - lay would not throw the work out of stride, but was made only from the fact that'the work at Mangahao was not up to, schedule. The Engineer’s report was adopt-, ed ,including the purchase of., half an' acre of land at Shannon for the sum.

of £l5O
