KOPUTAROA NOTES

A .meeting of the Hall Commiltee was held on Tuesday evening, Mr J. C, Johnson being in the cliair. It was reported that a , site lor the hall hacl been purchased from Mrs Hone McMillan on the main roadi akove flic Post Office and overlooking the-town-ship. The secretary (Mr Hood) 1 'Staled that the sum of £33 hud been donated towards the hall funds, and now that the site was procured an active, campaign lor the collection of funds could be started.: Canvessers wgre• appointtime ago for the various 'parts gf the district to receive donations, as follows: iVfr J. Ward, Iliikara; ,:Mrs Bell,-Koputaroa; Mr J. Sciascia, Piaka Hoad; Mr, Bell, Fpxton Road; Mr H. Walton; Koputaroa Road. The llall Committee visited Tokomaru yesterday to inspect the liall there with the idea of deciding bn a suitable plan for .the local, hall.

Jhe fiotato crops are turning out fairly well' in this and several consignments ffiave been railed away to outside buyers. ' The annual school picnic was held in Mr Walton’s paddock last Friday, when there was* a. big crowd of children and parents present. The weather was fine, and an enjoyable day was spent. A big programme for the children was got off, and the. School Committee supplied an abundance of refreshment, and • spared no pains to make the day a pleasant one for.'allAn d they succeeded. In the evening a dance was held in the school as a wind-up for the day. Miss White supplied the qnusic, and Mr Sciascia was the right man as , M.C. / The dance was , as successful as the picnic, and the large crowd present fully enjoyed it. *
