M.C.C. WIN FINAL MATCH.

BY AN INNINGS AND FOUR BUNS. j * DEADLY BOWLING. AUCKLAND, Last Night. The English cricketers concluded their NeAv Zealand tour with an unbeaten reco<-l, defeating Auckland by an innings and 4 runs. The failure of the Auckland batsmen was mainly attri'rutai-.le to the excellent bowung of Freeman and Gibson on a batsman's Avicket. The feature of the Auckland innings was the last Avicket .stand of Rountree in the first and ot Anthonv and McLeod in the second. Showers fell at intervals, but the wicket remained in good order and the outfield was fairly fast: Frater and Horspool opened to the bpAvling of Gibson and Calthorpe, playing confidently, 15 being scored off one over. The first wicket fell at 3S and 65 runs ,appeared for fifty minutes' play, but at 71, Frater, who ' had played patiently, Avas caught. Then a rot set in, five wickets being down for 88. The Snedden-Anthony partnership carried the total to 98, when the latter was beaten by Gibson, Sneddeh folloAVing shortly after. Player compiled his 18 by steadycricket. The last man in, Rountree, reached 36 by dashing play. In the second innings, four wickets fell for 1 run, Freeman's googlies beating the batsmen. With the association of Player and Dacre, runs came slowly, mostly in singles, and a 5 appeared for thirty-five minutes' play. At 46, Player, who had played patiently, Avas clean boAvled. Garrard joined Dacre and a period of slow cricket followed to the good length bOAvling of Gibson and Freeman. With Garrard bowled, seven of the best Avickets had gone for 70. McLeod's .partnership with ' Anthony proved the best, the pair by,steady batting, carrying the, score from SO to 120. when Anthony scored a 6. Then the first change in the bowling occurred, Gibson and Calthorpe going on. The former continued after six o'clock to finish. Anthony's 48 runs were the outcome of solid cricket and McLeod's 50 runs were AA'ell compiled. Details:—
