MAORILAND PICTURES.

"OMAR KHAYYAM." The picturisation of Fitzgerald's great work "Omar Khayyam," will be shown in' Shannon on Friday night next. It is quite evident from reports that the picture is a really wonderful production. Besides a splendidly conceived plot, the picture features some very remarkable astronomical scenes. The iambus verses of the "Rabaiyat," dealing with the potter and his living pots, are introduc-

ed in a most original, humorous, and clever manner. There are, too, some picturesque Eastern dances staged.cn elaborate and lavish lines. One of the most effective is the Dagger Dance. The romantic side of the story has not been neglected; in fact, the lov« theme runs right ' through the picture, and this part of the story is staged amidst Persian gardens, landscapes, mountains, valleys, and temple cities. An added feature of the production is the coloured film, and the beauty of the big scenes is enhanced by- varied tinting.

"KAZAN."'

The attraction on Monday will be "Kazan," a p'hotodrama described as "extraordinary," from the pen ot James Oliver Curwood, famed for his stories of the Far North and of natural history. "Kazan" is adaptftd from the author's remarkable tale of the great wolf-dog known as "Kazan the Killer," and has to do with a gripping tragedy and a love affair, -which wander through many nooks and corners of a Northern wilderjiess little known to man. The piece de resistance oJ this unusual photeplay is the wonderful lesson of faithfulness taught by the dog "Kazan." A superb cast interprets the picturesque characters of the sto.ry, with Jane Novak, in the leading role.
