MAORILAND THEATRE.

“OUT OF THE SILENT! NORTH.”

Saturday’s big picture at the local theatre .is a Universal entitled “Out of the Silent North.”. It tells the story of Pierre Baptiste, a young FrenchCanadian, who lived in a. distant outpost of civilisation, ahd loved Marcette, daughter of old Andrea Vallois, storekeeper. Reginald Stannard, a young Englishman, comes to thafr country seeking a gold claim left by his father. The girl is charmed by the genteel stranger, and asks Pierre to guard Stannard on his prospecting trip. The two strike a rich vein of gold, and are working feverishly against the coming of winter, when Stannard is accidentally injured. Pierre brings him back to the trading post and returns to safeguard their mine. Nefferton, a renegade white, secretly files on their claim and comes to dispossess Pierre, who sees from their .map that they have the location wrong. He slips away to the land Office to file on it properly for Stannard and himself. Nefferton and his j friends give chase, but after a fight on . the trail, Pierre wins out. Returning . to Marcette and Stannard, Pierre learns the temporary infatuation has passed and that she feally loves Pierre.

“MAN AND WOMAN.” On Monday a thrilling story entitled “Man and Woman,” will be screened. Its opening scenes are'laid on a tropical island where a community of outcasts from Society are living in squalid idleness. The coming of Diana Murdoch in her father’s yacht introduces a. new element, and excit ing events follow. A picture o'f grip ar,d thrill!
