.D. M. The Hydro Board, wished him to put a road in- between the School, reserve, Retter’s property and their proposed site. He stated •he had written to Mr Osborne,- his agent, to find out what distance there,
would be between a house' occupied by Mr McCulloch and the School boundary. Mr Osborne had informed ■him the distance from the school fence lo the out-built chimney of the house is ,57ft. 6irg so a road could not be made 66ft wide. He says a road of three-quarters of a chain would leave a passage of* Bft, which, would be wide enough to convey goods of all classes to the hack door, otherwise the size of . the-house would have to be reduced to secure a road a chain wide. We wished to know' if the Council would entertain a proposal for him to put a road in of thred-.quarters of a chain 1 along that boundary. He stated the hydro people wished to get their building erected shortly. The. Mayor said the Council had no'power to prevent the applicant putting in a road, but if he wished fo erect buildings lacing the road it. must be a chain , wide.
-After consideration it was moved by Cr. Murray and seconded by Cr. Spencer that Mr O’Connor he written to informing him that the-Coun-cil cannot see its way clear to takeover the proposed road as suggested by him, but there was nothing to hinder him making the road himself, but the Council would point out that it would he to his advantage for future use to comply with, the Municipal Corporations Act and Shannon 1 Borough by-laws, as otherwise a dwelling-house could not be built facing the road, she chain width' beJng .essentia/1.
