Y.M.C.A. BEATS PUBLIC WORKS. Title Public Works team, of Shannon, met Y.M.C.A. at Levin on Saturday, the latter winning on the first innings by €5 to' 50. Y.M.C.A.’s .first effort with,the bat realised 65, Martin 25; and Mackenzie 15, doing most of the scoring.; Public Works replied with 50 (Hemmingson 13). Taking a second strike, Y.M.C.A. put up 58, Mackenzie (20) again contributing a useful score.' Auckram (11) was the only other to get double figures. - The. visitors did much better in their sfecond innings, and at call of time had seven wickets down for 56, Hemmingson (17) contributing a double-figure score fo r the second time. ANOTHER WIN FOR SHANNON. Shannon finished the second round of the competition by defeating Fo.kton at Shannon on Saturday. The visitors put up a fair performance, re- , gistering 42 runs to Shannon’s 103 for nine wickets.- Kruse, who was neatly i caught by Stewart'at fißst slip off Randall, knocked up 18, arid was the only one to reach double figures. Grainger and Randall did tin 3 bowling for 1 .Shannon, the former, taking five wickets for 23 -runs ancl the latter four ’ for 14.
