The Rev. Frank McDonald> Presbyterian minister at Foxton, accompanied by Mr Jledlev Wilton, of Rangiot-u, relumed-from a thousand mile motor trip up north last week. They ‘ took camp equipment with them and despite occasional rain spent a most enjoyable time. The roads on the whole were fairly good. The route traversed was New Plymouth, over Mount Messenger to Awakiho, thence to Te Kuiti, Hamilton, Paeron, Waihi, Tauranga, Te Puke, Matata, through the Rangitikei swamp to Te Toko, thence to Rotorua, through • the Waiotapu valley to Taupo and on to Napier and home.' T,lie- journey took eighteen days. Mr McDonald informs us that a valley road-vis being in el ailed which will obviate. Taumatauinaire hill en route to Te- Kuiti. Mount Messenger is also being metalled and will be completed by March. When this is completed, metal roads will then IF open for traffic throughout. The tourists arrived at Napier during the flood, and they stale that between Napier and Waipukurau the countryside bad the appearance of an “inland sea.” The journey was accomplished in a. Ford car—Foxton Herald.
