■ * PRICES SOAR AT INVERCARGILL. Invercargill, January 25. * The first Invercargill wool sale was held on Saturday, 6500 bales being Jt- ■ fered. British, Colonial, American and ' Continental buyers were represented, and there was the keenest competi lion in all classes. Values were up to the cemmandeer prices, and altogether it was the best auction sale of wool ever-held in' Southland. . ' Crossbred prices constituted a record. Medium crossbreds were up 3d per lb on the last Christchurdh sale, and pieces also were up to 17id, which is said-'to be a Dominion- record. The bulk of the offerings were secured, for export, the Dominion mills securing a fair quantity of the better kinds..
