At the Court at Wanganui, William Owen was charged with assaulting Thomas Herbert Butler so as to cause him actual bodily harm. In asking for a remand for a week, Senior-Ser-geant Lopdell stated that accused, who was on a visit to Wanganui, found his wife in" company with Butler at Aramoho under circumstances which put accused off his balance for a time. It is alleged tht. he took a razor and slashed Butler about the body. Butler is at present in hospital, but the doctor had informed the Sergeant that his injuries were not serious. The Senior-Sergeant intimated to the Court that he would not offer objection to bail, whereupon%ccused broke down and said he preferred to remain in custody. The Justices fixed bail at £25 should accused elect to apply for it. The remand as asked for was granted.
