CARRIED OUT TO SEA. Foxton, December 16. Kilpatrick’s body has not yet been recovered. It is surmised he was carried out to sea. FATAL FALL FROM LORRY. LITTLE GIRL KILLED AT LONGBURN. As' the result of a fall from a motorlorry belonging to the Kairanga Dairy Company, and driven along the Long-burn-Rongotea Road, at about 11 a.m. on Sunday, a little eight-year-old girl Rona Bovis, daughter of Mr Henry William Bovis, of Longburn, sustained injuries, which shortly after terminated fatally. It is understood that the lorry, which was being driven by Mr Albert Edgar Mellor, of Longburn, was proceeding to the factory with the cream, when the driver stopped to pick p little Rona, so that she could enjoy a ride with his three children, who were ! on the front seat. Apparently the driver noticed the approach of a motor cycle, on which two persons were ridirig pillion fashion, and he swerved to give: them a clear run, with the result that the girl, who was sitting at | the end, fell off the seat. Mr Mellor j made a clutch at the falling child, but j only secured a part of her clothing, j and she fell on to the step of the mo- j tor-lorry and then on to the road. The lorry was immediately stopped ' and the child, who was seen to be in- j ;ured internally, was conveyed to the ; home of her parents. Dr. Paget was summoned, but the little girl expired shortly afterwards.

The little victim was a niece of Mr J. Bovis, of Shannon.
