Saturday’s matches concluded the first round of the Horowhenua competition, the positions being as follows:
The fixtures on Saturday were the last in the competitions for the present year, and will be recommenced on Saturday, January 5.
SHANNON V. WERAROA B. The Shannon Club sent a team down to Levin on Saturday to play a friendly game with Weraroa B. In their first strike the visitors made 50 (Main 20 retired), Weraroa responding with 40 (Widdas 14, Harding 12). On going to the wickets again Shannon made 40, leaving the home side 50 to get to win, which they failed to do by four runs, Shannon winning by that margin.
O CONNOR CUP MATCH. WIN FOR SHANNON BOYS. A match for the O’Connor Primary Schools Challenge Cup was played at Shannon on Saturday between the Levin District High School and Shannon School, the latter winning by an innings and 14 runs. Following are the scores:—
