KOPUTAROA NOTES.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CONCERT

The Koputaroa Sunday School concert, held in the school recently, was one of the most enjoyable ' evenings spent at Koputaroa for a long time. Although the weather was wet, the residents turned out -en masse, and the schoolroom was crowded to the doors. The Rev. Bawden Harris, of Levin, was chairman, and opened the proceedings with prayer. The concert programme was an exceptionally good one, and was contributed to as follows: Pianoforte solo, Miss Broadbelt; recitation, Miss Myrtle Hood; song, Mrs Kilsby; song, “It’s no joke to be a baby,” junior pupils; song, ‘‘Polly put the kettle on/’ Misses Sporle and White; song, Mr J. D. Brown; pianoforte solo, Miss Ward; recitation, ‘‘A Winter Version,” Miss Mavis Garard; flag song, junior pupils; pianoforte duet, Misses Broadbelt; recitation, Mr A. Ward; pianoforte solo, Miss White; solo, Miss Rankin; selection, Levin Salvation Army Band; song, “The Finger Family,” junior pupils; tenor horn solo, Miss Pollock; song, Misses- Rountree, Gilrnour and Garard; pianoforte duet, Miss Broadbelt and Mr Bradford; song, Mr J. D. Brown. During the evening prizes were presented to the Sunday School scholars by "Mr J. K. Walton, who congratulated the children on their good work during the year. Votes of thanks were accorded to all who had assisted, special mention being made of the children, both for their fine performance at the concert and for the energy displayed in the selling of tickets. The presence of the Salvation Army Band from Levin was much appreciated, and the playing greatly enjoyed. During the evening Captain Bain, of the Levin Corps, briefly addressed the gathering, and expressed pleasure at the success of the gathering and the good work being done by the Sunday School in Koputaroa.

Mrs C. I. Harkness, Forsyth, and Miss Rankin were the accompanists.

At the conclusion of the concert the gathering was entertained at supper, which proved an enjoyable finale to an excellent concert.

The school will “break-up” for the holidays on Friday and a concert will be held in the school in the evening in connection with the event.

GENERAL. All the necessary electric transmission poles have been carted out along the track which the line will, take at the foot of the Tararuas. The surplus poles will he dispatched to other points to the north and south.. Tennis is being played a good deal at the school. Misses Langdon and Anderson, the lady assistants, are both enthusiasts, and have popularised the game among the pupils.
