OUR APOLOGY.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—Many of those who were so fortunate as to listen to Mr Johnson’s most instructive lecture regretted that the usual courtesies to the lecturer Were conspicuous by their absence. Though his discomfort with the strain of two meetiris a day was so manifestly affecting his throat, not a , soul was considerate enough to procure hir\

a glass of water. This is invariably provided, and was a most serious - omission. Also, when our distinguished visitor alluded with his usual courtesy to Britain and the British flag, the

necessary return of politeness was missing. In view of the insulting remarks of a small section of the audience with reference to his great country, it would have been a. mere token of good feeling and good manners if the remainder had given three cheers for America. Had it been proposed .there is little 1 doubt that it would have

been given : vociferously.—l am, etc., ENGLAND.
