RAID ON TWO-UP SCHOOL.
MANY NAMES TAKEN
On Sunday afternoon the local police made a raid on a two-up school : on tiie old Foxton Road, near Shannon, where it is estimated there were ' about sixty players alleged to have been indulging in spinning the penny and betting on the fall. It is understood that the police, after taking observations for some time, made their presence known, when there was a hurried departure from the ring-side, the ‘scholars” scattering in all directions as though a shell had burst in their midst, and judging by the speed put up there were some athletes of no mean ability present. We understand a large number of names were taken, and action is being brought against them in the course of a few days. It is reported that one individual forgot to take his overcoat with him, which is now in the possession of the police, who also secured the dividend which was left in the ring by the hurried departure of the players.
