THE TOWN CLERK RESIGNS.
APPLICATIONS CALLED FOR
SUCCESSOR.
Our readers will regret to hear that Miss J. S. Cameron, who has acted as Town Clerk with so much success and ability, has resigned her position. A letter was received from her by the Council at its meeting on Tuesday asking that she be relieved from duty from December 12, and stating she was going to reside at her home in Levin. The Mayor said that in Miss Cameron the Council was losing a good Town Clerk, and that during her term of office he had never had a moment’s uneasiness as regards her work. The’ Council had always felt safe with its clerical work in her hands, and he regretted very much at losing her services, and wished her happiness in the future. The Mayor’s remarks were fully endorsed by the councillors, and it was resolved that the resignation be received with the deepest regret, and a vote was passed wishing Miss Cameron all happiness, and eulogising the work done by her, a letter to that effect to be sent her, which was unanimously carried by acclamation. Cr. Spencer than moved that applications be called immediately for the position.
