BRITISH AND FOREIGN BIBLE SOCIETY.
VISIT OF ORGANISING SECRETARY. It was. decided, during the visit of Mrs Florence Porter, organising secretary for the British and Foreign Bible Society in the Wellington Province, that a committee bei formed to carry out the work for this year, and to prepare for the annual effort next year. The following have kindly consented fo act: Mr Taylor, of Makerua School (who resides in Ballance Street, Shannon), has undertaken entire control of the collecting boxes, and is inaugurating a system in cooperation with the Sunday schools; Mrs S. W. Carter RaTTahce Street, is secretary for the collectors, and will ha responsible for the annual collection. The collectors can refer to her, and eventually hand their books and money to her for dispatch to headquarters, Wellington. Mrs Clayton will also act and assist Mrs Carter in maintaining the interest. Mrs McCulloch, Grey Street will collect in the main street, Mrs Ryrie will be responsible for Buckley. We feel sure -that Shannon will show its sympathy with this world-wide work and make the result wrirthy of the district.
