PROPOSED DRAINAGE BOARD
FOR HOROWHENUA LAKE DISTRICT
At the October meeting of the Horowhenua County Council, a list of some 15 land owners in the vicinity of Lake Horowhenua was handed in as being 1 agreeable to the formation of a drainage board for that district, the matter. being left in the hands of the County Clerk to take the necessary tens to do so. y
On Saturday Mr Goldsmith explained that a considerable amount of work and expense was entailed, and as the staff was fully occupied, he asked the Council's direction in the matter.
Cr. Monk, the chairman, said it would cost £ls or- £2O to collect the necessary signatures and meet other expenses, and the Council would iequire to be reimbursed for that outlay.
Cr. McLeayey said he took it the settlers concerned would bear the cost.
The Chairman: We can go on if the settlers pay. Cr. McLeavey offered to collect the necessary signatures if supplied with the list.
This was agreed to, Cr McLeavey to report to next, meeting. *
