TOKOMARU NOTES.
The rain of last week affected the creeks, which were running high for a few days, but luckily no damage was done. The rain has done a lot of good, and the pastures were perhaps
never looking better. The factory is receiving a large intake of milk this season, and if prices hold good as at present, things should turn out all right for dairymen. A hard-up dance was held in the hall on Friday night in aid. of the church funds. There wa-s a good crowd present, and a highly successful and enjoyable time resulted. Some of the dresses were decidedly good, the prizes for the most original being awarded to Mr and Mrs Kars. Vincent Hewetson won the prize for the best boy’s costume, and Molly Campbell that for girls. The music was excellent, and was supplied by Messrs. George, H. Parr, F. Berquist, J. Smith and G. Lampard. Mr Linklatter’s meeting here: was one of the best of the kind held in Toko, and Mr Linklater should be well satisfied with his reception. Interest in the election is growing, and we are looking forward to hearing the next candidate.
