ESSAY COMPETITION.
SHANNON AND KOPUTjAROA WINNERS. A few months ago the Minister of Education promoted an essay competition on the subject, “Alcohol in Relation to the Human Body and Mind.” The New Zealand Alliance supported the Minister in the promoting of the competition, and prizes were offered at the schools throughout the district, to W.E.A. circles, and the professions generally. The result of the schools competitions in this district has just, been received by Mr .7. W. Gibson, and is as follows: — Section A. —5 th, Winnie Pickles. Shannon, 10/6; 7th, Stella E. Smith, Koputaroa, 10/6; 9fh, M. H. Feetham, Nathan Ten-ace, Shannon, 10/6; 10th Phyllis H. Forsyth, Koputaroa, 10/6; 12th, Lance Pederson, Koputaroa, 10/6; 13th, Peter Bowler, Shannon, 10/6. Section B —6th, Valentine Pedersen, Koputaroa, 10/6.
