Education' may be defined as the progressive liberation of the soul. What becomes of the children who received no education after the age of fourteen years? Effect of education on crime: In England, in 1870, 10,000 boys and girls were committed to prison; in 19f0, forty-eight boys and three girls were committed; in 1919, twenty-five boys and no girls. Only a trained man to-day can win a living from the land; and what are we doing to> train these boys? We cannot have a real democracy until we have an educated one.
