PEDIGREE STOCK SALE.

AT CENTRAL DEVELOPMENT FARM

The Central Development barm s annual sale of pedigree Friesian, Red ’ Poll cattle and Berkshire pigs was held yesterday, On the whole the sale proved fairly satisfactoiy, the Frie-

sian bulls in particular meeting good competition. ' Every entry changed i hands, although no sensational ! prices were recorded. The sire Doj minion Woodcrest King Segis of Rock brought the best price of the day, and ; was finally knocked down to Mr G. 1 F. Court, of Auckland, at DOgns. The eight-months bull Dominion de Kol Frisby made what must be the bettei sale oi the two by realising 80gns, be-

ing purchased by the Otekaike special school, Oamaru. This youngster is by

the Farm’s 'herd sire Dominion Woodcrest Piebe Mercedes, and has the Friesian characteristics well pronounced. The Red Poll bull entry was also cleared with-one exception, 40gns being the top price. This was for the 14 months’ animal Dominion Egmont, the buyer being Mr IJ.1 J . W. Harvey, the Waverley breeder. The competition for both Friesian and Red Poll cows was not up to that of last year, and a good many were passed.

The Farm’s first pedigree Berkshire pig sale was very successful. The entry of young boars and sow's was a fairly extensive one, and the type was first-class. They met a good demand, and the lot were disposed of, the sows from sgns to 11-igns, and the boars 2gns to Bgns, the animals beng from three to nine months old.

The attendance oi buyers was well, up to that of former years, breeders being present from most of the principal districts of the North Island, also Picton, Canterbury and SoutliI out in the South Island.
