At the present time it costs 20/ per plank to land decking a,t the Horowhenua Council's bridges, the labour of putting them in place being an extra charge. Although this 'hardwood decking is an expensive item, the price quoted above represents a drop of 20/ per 100 ft within the. last 12 months. In the same time the junk hardwood used for stringers lias fallen 40/ per 100 ft—from 90/ to 50/ per 100 ft.
