] oaom at the dam site have reached a hard strata, which it is presumed will provide a satisfactory foundation .or the concrete.
The steam hauler plant, which was transferred ■ from North Auckland for work in connection with the crusherconcreting machinery, was hoisted into position during the week, and the work of connecting the tramway is now in progress.
The erection of the long-promised medical hut has at last been commenced. This will be a distinct advantage to both doctor and patients. Skating is becoming quite a popular form of The Y.M.C.A. hut, and quite a lew new aspirants are balancing then' frames on the roller*.
Mr 0. IT Burton, M.A., addressed a fair gathering on Sunday afternoon in the interests of Prohibition and received a good hearing. This is our first reminder of election campaigning.
The fan installed af the No. -2 tunnel was under repairs most of fast week, but is now buzzing again at good speed Thursday even'ng wa.s quite busy on the top of the bill, where a good number gathered to witness the sun’s eclipse. One of the iheodlites was placed in position, and a good telescopic view obtained. Smoked glass of all sorts and sizes was in evidence and tire excellent view obtained niure than compensated the party for their hill climb.
