SCHOOL CONCERT.
Last evening the concert organised by Mrs Bovis to raise funds tor the annual school picnic was held in the Maoriland Theatre, when there was a large attendance, the concert being highly appreciated by those present. The first half of the programme was given by children, the second portion being rendered by adults. The various items were well received, most of them being encored. During the evening Mr J. Murray, chairman of the School Committee, stated he was pleased to see such a large attend--ance, and he was sure the proceeds from the concert that evening would be of great assistance towards giving the children their annual picnic. He also said the committee were open to consider any suggestions that would help to augment the funds. He wished to thank the performers, and especially Mrs Bovis, for the excellent entertainment she had organised. The following was the programme: Pianoforte duet, Misses M. Christopherson and R. Byers; opening chorus, “Come be Merry and Joyful,” school girls; recitation, Lily Fletcher; solo, and chdrus, “Red Joy Roses,” Vera Aim and girls; trio, Miss Neale (piano), Eva Quarrie (violin), S. Franks (’cello); vocal duet, “The Gay Seaside,” Josie and Freda Thomson; vocal solo, IreneGoakley; recitation, Eva Quarrie; vocal solo, “I Wish I were a Tiny Bifd,” Vera Aim; clog dance, Rita Terry; vocal solo, “Down Every Roadway,” Miss S. Quarrie; pianoforte duet, Misses Neale and R. Byers; vocal solo, “There You Are,” Mr W. Quarrie; dueit, Mr and Mrs Bishop; vocal solo, Mr Mason; vocal solo, Mr Bishop; humorous duet, Mr W. and Miss S. Quarrie; vocal solo, Miss Aim; Turkish dance, Miss Rita Terry; vocal solo, Mrs Bishop; solo, Mrs Bovis; solo, Mr Mason; quartette, Mesdames Bishop and Bovis and Messrs. Bishop and Quarrie.
