SCHOOL COMMITTER.

The regular monthly meeting of the Shannon school Committee was held last Tuesday. Present: Messrs. Murray (chairman), Downes, Anderson, Quarrie, Birchall, Watkins, Watterston and Carlyle. Mr Voysey (head teacher) was also in attendance. The niinutes of the previous meeting .were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Wellington Education Board re dental treatment of school children, and outlining the scheme from the point of view of Mr T. A. HuntSr, the Director of the Division of Dental Hygiene. This matter was freely discussed by the Committee and decided the letter be received and the secretary reply to the Board that the scheme will be favoured and ac-> cepted.

From the .Wellington Education Board re staffing changes that will take place in the course pf a week or two.—Received. GENERAL. The chairman (Mr Murray) feelingly referred to the death of Mrs Barnes, and a motion was carried as a mark of respect, all members standing.

The arrangements, in hand'by Mrs Bovis for the School picnic benefit concert was finally considered for the purpose of arriving at the most suitable method of selling tickets and other details.'

Mr Hyde’s suggestion for raising picnic funds was left in abeyance till next meeting.

A resolution that the time has arrived for a qualified dentist to take up his residence in Shannon was carried.

Several small accounts were passed for payment.
