MANGAHAO HYDRO.

PROGRESS WITH TUNNELS

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

Excellent progress is being maintained with the concreting of each tunnel. The McKenzie-Bain party have passed the 18-chains mark in No. 1 tunnel, and the Quinlan party' have completed 20 chains of the No. 2 tunnel. The water trouble continues in the No. 2, but the tunnelling party are overcoming this obstacle and piercing operations are proceeding with very fair progress.

The erection of Assistant-Engineer Lindup’s cottage is now completed, and the builders have commenced the extension of the Y.M.C.A. hut for the housing of the billiard table. It is hoped that the table will be ready for action again in a couple of weeks. A good crowd gathered for the camp social and dance: on Saturday night, and thoroughly enjoyed a good floor, music and supper.
