HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION.

Te horo awarded third grade CHAMPIONSHIP. The weekly meeting of the Union, held on Tuesday, was presided over by Mr W. Thomson. The secretary (Mr Carmichael) reported that Foxton failed to send its third grade team to meet Te Horo for the championship last Saturday. Te Horo came up and kicked off, and then claimed the match. Oh the motion of Mr L. Dixon, Te Horo was awarded the match owing to- Foxton defaulting. A letter was received from the Manawatu Rugby Union stating that a committee from their Union would meet three Horowhenua delegates on Saturday next to come to definite proposals re amalgamation to take back to their respective Unions. It was decided to accept the Manawatu invitation, the Horowhenua delegates to be Messrs. Thomson, Bevan and Carmichael.

The secretary reported that arrangements were complete for the Horo-whenua-Manawatu match at Palmerston North on Saturday next, Mr W. Sevan will be manager of the Horowhenua team, the members of which will travel by the New Plymouth mail.

The ToKomara Football Club forwarded an invitation to the Management Committee to attend the club’s social and dance on Friday evening next.

The invitation was accepted, the junior championship trophies to be presented by the chairman to the Tokomaru team during the evening. An application from a Te Horo player for an insurance claim for six weeks’ medical treatment was granted on the motion of the chairman and Mr Dixon. •

Mr Norgrove, Otaki, forwarded £2 3/3, the net receipts of the RoversOtaki match for the Licensed Victuallers’ Cup. last Saturday. In reply to a member, the secretary stated that no financial statement of the rep. match played at Shannon had yet been received, but the Shannon secretary had- stated that he would forward it in a few days.
