SUCCESSFUL KOPUTAROA BALL.

IN AID of; hall fund

A very successful fancy dress ball was held at Kuputaroa on Friday evening in aid of the fund for a new hall There was a large attendance, and visitors came from all parts of the district. The room was splendidly decorated, and presented a line appearance, and the evening proved most enjoyable. The gathering was organised by Miss Thelma Shaw, of Levin, who also supervised the musical arrangements, the management being all that could be desired. Music was contributed by Misses White, Boyib, Ward, Broadbelt (2), and several others kindly assisted. Great interest was taken in the fancy dress competition, there being numerous competitors, and the many pretty and novel costumes were much admired. The prize for the best dressed couple was won by Miss Penny and Mr Wakefield, who appeared as a Hawaiian couple ,and that for the best girls’ fancy dress went to little- Miss Kilsby as Little 80-peep. During the evening a violin solo was played by Master Pat Melaney, a little chap who has had only a few months’ tuition, and lie acquitted himself well and was loudly applauded. The success of the hall speaks well for the enthusiasm of the local people in supporting the hall movement, and Miss Shaw is to be complimented on her good work in promoting the function.
