The Wa-nganui-Rangit-ikei Power Board recently wrote to the Minister of Public Works for confirmation ol the promise of 180Gh.p. for the district, with the result that the Minister has replied stating that his note shows the amount to he liiOOh.p. The Minister, however, has indicated thatin the event of other districts not taking their allotment, more power will be available. Mr A. Harris suggested applying for 3500h.p., the full amount of the district’s requirements, but other members . thought that possibly if they got that amount it would be charged for irrespective of the amount, used. It was therefore decided to await the engineers’ report on requirements before making a definite application.
It is said that it takes all sorts to make a world, and the behaviour of some of them, at times, makes one wonder why they are here; their purview is inexplicable. Of such (says the Rotorua Chronicle) are those w r ho committed incomprehensible acts of vandalism in the Government Gardens on Sunday night, by misplacing dozens of labels, pulling up all the pegs and score boards of the Bowling Club, destroying plants and flowers, upsetting seats, throwing the handcart and barrow in the cooler reservoir and drawing all the rollers in among the flower beds, thereby doing considerable damage, and making everybody very angry to think there are such mischief makers about.
