DAIRY FACTORY SUPPLIERS.

SHOULD THEY CHANGE ABOUT

At the meeting of dairy company representatives iu Levin on Friday, Mr R. G. Wall (lvuku) brought up the question of suppliers sticking to one factory during season, and not moving from one to another. He said the season was just about to open and the companies should decide on what they were going to do in this matter. He did not think it right that a supplier should be able to go from one factory to another. When the season commenced, the factories ascertained how many suppliers they would have, and engaged a staff accordingly, but if suppliers changed to another it would upset all these arrangements and cause inconveniences.

The chainnan (Mr S. A. Bfoadbelt) said some provision should be made in the by-laws to meet that.

Mr Wall: The season will soon commence ,and we should not lose time, but get on with it at. once. Mr A. J. Girnblett (Levin) said there should be some understanding between the companies on this point, so that moving from one factory to another could be prevented. They did not want co-operation in one factory, but in all. Mr Wail moved that it be a recommendation to the committee (already appointed to deal with other matters) to go into the question of endeavouring to keep suppliers to the factory ni their own district, and report. Mr E. McDonald (Te Horo) seconded the motion, and said this was a hlatter that should ho dealt with. If the companies had no power at present 'they should alter their articles of association. It was time some action was taken. The motion was carried, unanim ously.
