OLD-TIME BUSH TRAGEDY.
SKELETON FOUND IN TARARUAS
Whilst pig hunting in the Tararuas yesterday, Mr P. Hassall, of Levin, made the discovery of a skeleton in,, a. remote part of the range in the vicinity of the old sawmill opposite Ohau. The country thereabouts was heavily timbered at one time, and is still covered with considerable growth. The skeleton presented no clue to identity, as it had evidently lain so long that every vestige of clothing had disappeared, the only articles of wear discovered being a pair of boots, and a leather band, evidently from the inside of a cap. The find was made in a .sheltered spot, where the unfortunate man had laid down to take his last rest. The police intend visiting the spot tomorrow to make investigations, as it is not known ol' anyone being missing from this district for the last ten or twelve years. £
