MR. W. R. MILLER.
The Assistant-Engineer, Mr W. R. Miller, had been in charge of the constructional operations at Middle Camp since their initiation, and was well known -to all visitors to the works there: He 'was an enthusiast in his profession, taking a pride in the great undertaking with which he was associated, and ever willing to afford visitors information as to the details. Only. 28 years of age, he was one of the youngest engineers in the Dominion in a position of high responsibility! Mr Miller was very popu_ lar with the men, and had a wide circle of friends. He was a' railway engineer prior to the war, and was engaged in the Railway Construction Corps in Franee. After that he went to America in search of experience, and on his return took up the position he held till his death. He was a native of Dunedin, and his brother is Clerk of the Court at Wanganui. The late Mr Miller had considerable literary ability, and earlier in the year wrote for the .News a series of articles dealing with the general aspects of hydro-electricity. The foreman, A. E. Maxwell, one of the victims of the Maiigahao tunnel accident, was a well known Wanganui contractor. He had been at Mangahao some twelve months. He was aged 55, and was married, with a family.
