FAT SHEEP MARKET EASIER.
THE LEVIN SAL7E. Tuesday's sale found the demand for fat sheep a good deal easier than it has been for some weeks. The yarding of fats was good, but apparently the: requirements of the .trade was small, for the sales were few, the greater part of the entry being passed. Under the conditions, fat ewes reached the satisfactory price of 22/3, and light forwjard 'wethers to 21/2.
The cattle market is still under the cloud of low prices, and stores were quitted at bargain rates for those m want of such stock. Cows of class were sold at from, 22/6 to 34/, with the inquiry weak. Dairy heifers and good sorts of dairy cows corning near profit made best sales, heifers of Jersey strain seUling HP t 0 £6, and cows as high as £l.l. Several good dairy cows had to .he passed, owing to reserves not beinjg reached. Pigs, of which there was a s mall yarding, sold at about last rates, good heavy porkers fetching up to £2 5/ to M 7/6.
Sheep.—Fat ewes 22/ to 22/ 3, fat and forward ewes 14/, to 16/, goo.d forward ewes 14/3 to 15/1, light forwj ard wethers 19/ to 21/2.
Cattle.—Store cows 22/6, 815/, 31/ to 34/, 18-months steers 61/, daily heifers £2 9/ to £3 12/6 up to £6 for good sorts, dairy cows £5, Pigs.—Stores 13/, 14/, to 16/6, light porkers 31/, 32/ to 36/, 1 ieavy HE2 to £2 7/6.
