BUTTER AND CHEESE AWARDS

The Levin, Shannon and Kuku factories are among the competitors in the butter and cheese classes at the Palmerston winter show, which opened to-day. Is thei butter section Levin and Shannon scored the following points:— Class I.—Box butter, 561 b, salted, suitable for export. Open to all factories in New Zealand.

The winning factory scored 96. Levin tied lor third, and Shannon was eighth with several others. Class 2.—80 x butter, in pats, suitable for local trade. Open to all factories in New Zealand.

The winner's points were 96. Levin tied for sixth, and Shannon tied for seventh. Class 3.—80 x butter, 561 b (export), open to all factories in New Zealand. (Cunard Rose Bowl):

Levin tied for third, and Shannon tied for fifth. Class 4.—Best box export butter, open to members of the N.Z. Dairy

Shannon and Levin tied for second hall a point behind the winner. .Class 5.—80 x export butter, open to all factories in New Zealand (Shaw, Savill and Albion Cup):—

Class 6.—Championship of New Zealand, to be competed for by exhibitors entered in classes 1 and 6.

In the aggregate, classes-1 and 6, Shannon was fourth with 187$ points.

CHEESE SECTION

Kuku gained 92 to the winner’s 95 in the full cream Cheddar export cheese, and scored 93 points to 95$ in the class for white Cheddar cheese. In the competition for cheesemaker or first assistant, Kuku tied for third with 93$ points, two points behind the winner. For case fully matured cheese, Kuku gained sixth place with 92 points, and was second with 94| in the class for members of the Dairy Factories’ Association. Kuku, with 95 points, won for medium cheese for local trade.

In the championships, Kuku was second with 94 points as follows: Flavpur 455, make 28$, colour and finish 20.

Kuku won the Lonsdale Cup with 186.94 points, laverage 93.47, and fourth in the Clement Cup with 369.9 points.
