APPOINTMENT OF REFEREES.

RUGBY UNION UNDERTAKES DUTIES

IN FUTURE

At the weekly meeting of the Horowlienua Rugby Union a - u Siting, a deputation was received from the Relerees’ Association in regard to the appointment of referees to the Shannon ground, the Association having refused to do so for last Saturday s match. The deputation consisted of Messrs. .7. W. Procter, J. Casey and JSciascia. The Union officials present were Messrs. E. Nash (chairman), F. Whibley, W. Bevan, R. W. Percy and L. S. Carmichael (secretary).The whole question Avas fully discussed, arid the Union, on the motion of Messrs. Whibley and Bevan, passed the following resolution: “That the deputation of the Relt'erees’ Association be informed that the Union, having notified the Association that the suspension on the Shannon ground was lifted, considers that any mrther correspondence on the subject is unnecessary, and, further, that the Union will be pleased for the Association to continue *thV~appointment of referees, provided they are prepared to appoint referees for all matches required.” On the motion being submitted to the deputation, it was stated it could not be accepted. Mr Percy then moved, and Mr Bevan seconded, that the Union appoint all referees in future. 'Phis motion was carried. ORDINARY BUSINESS.

The date suggested, July 5, for the Rangitikei-Horowhenua rep. match for the Bebbington Shield at Bulls was accepted, and that an outside referee be appointed. August 16 was decided upon for the rep. game with Wanganui on the Levin ground.

It was decided that the North v. South junior rep. game be played at Otaki on June 24.
