SHEEP REMAIN FIRM.

GOOD PRICES AT TUESDAY’S SALE.

The entry all round was above average at the Levin sale on Tuesday, with the exception of pigs. Sheep and cattle in all classes were well represented, and the attendance of buyers well up to the average. Sheep again realised firm values, the best of the fats showing an , advance on last week’s rates, and the indications are that the market will still further improve. Good fat ewes made up to 26/9, and prime wethers to 30/. Other fats also sold well. A firm - demand exists for good breeding ewes, ewes in lamb fetching 18/3 up to 21/6. Store ewes are another line making ready sale, small two-tooths reaching ,15/7 to 16/9, and mixed-sex two-tooths 17/2. Cattle continue to rule at low values, fat bullocks being quitted at £5- 2/6 to £5 15/ and fat cows as low as £2 6/. Other classes of cattle were little better, with the exception of dairy cows, of which there was a moderate entry of medium quality. The best of these brought fair prices, but others not so good and late calvers met little, competition, and several were passed in.~ Sheep.—Fat ewes 18/, 19/6, 20,', 22/6, up to 26/9 for prime quality, fat wethers 22/, 24/, prime up to 30/, fat lambs 18/3 to 19/6, ewes in lamb to black-faced rams 18/3 to 21/6, small 2tooth ewes 15/7, m.s. hoggets 12/6, m.s. 2-tooths 17/2, store ewes 11/6, small hoggets 10/.
