THE LEVIN MARKET.
PIGS AND SHEEP MEET QUIETER SALE. This week found a quieter sale fhan that of last week, the reason apparently being the absence of outside competition. Pigs and sheep were affected principally. A wwic ago some good porkers reached £3 5/ whilst the best price on Tuesday was £1 below that, but the class of pork was not up to the quality of that of a week earlier; in fact, the whole entry was not above average quality, and of these there was a large proportion. /of light unfinished porkers. Stores were not in much request, and the competition was quiet. Sheep were not so brisk as last sale, and a portion of the entry was passed. The best values ruling were fat owes 16/5, forward wethers 16/3, and good forward lambs 16/1. Store lambs brought 8/10 to 9/4. Beef again met a dull market, and the business done was at a low grade, of prices. Good dairy cows and well-bred heifers are ready sellers at fair prices, the best of the former going up to £9 10/, springing heifers to £7 15/, and yearling heifers £3 8/ to £3 15/. Pigs.—Slips 10/ to 14/6, stores 8/ to 12/ for small, to 15/, 20/, and 24/, porkers 37/ to 30/, 35/, £2 and £2 5/, choppers 30/. Sh.eep.—Forward wethers 16/3, fat ewes 16/3 to 16/5, forward lambs 16/1, small lambs 11/, store lambs 8/10 to 9/4.
Cattle.—Light, fat bullocks £5 2/6, fat cows 30/ to £2 12/6, £2 15/ and £2 17/6; store cows 21/ to 38/, vealers 10/, dairy cows £5 15/ to £7 10/ and uo to* £9 10/, springing heifers £5 10/ to £7 15/, weaner heifers 20/ to 37/6, well-bred yearling heifers £3 8/6 to £3 15/.
