The senior game between these clubs was played on the Shannon ground and resulted in an unexpected win lor the seaside team by the substantial margin ol' 33 to 0. Their meeting with Hui Mai next\ Saturday should be attended with more than usual interest. WANDERERS V. WERAROA. This game proved a considerable attraction on Saturday, and there was a good crowd at the Domain to witness it. Right from the start the Wanderers made the play willing, and with a heavier pack and more combination among their rearguard bad the best of the game right through. At times the'Blacks showed some nice work, and if they go on improving will again be a factor in deciding championship. Jacob was in scoring form, and landed a couple of tries, one of which was converted. Lmmichael, right wing three-guai tei, played with plenty of confidence, and also scored twice, and Rangi Williams (promoted from the juniors) placed a trv to his credit, -making the total score 17. The Weraroa play was somewhat patchy, hut tor a new team performed very well, and are bound to improve as the season goes on. Led by Rangi Broughton and D. Cole, the forwards made several good attacks on their opponents’ line, and got wiulin striking distance, hut oveianxiousnes.s appeared to rob them oi the fruits at their hard toil. Though they were beaten in the scrums, the forwards made a good showing in the open. The backs have not stiuck much combination* yet, but the individual work in most cases was up to the mark, and a few more games should see a considerable improvement. The play, although the scoring was all ..on' one side, was highly interesting, and worked up the enthusiasm of the supporters of both sides. Mr W. Thomson was the referee.
HU I MAI WINS. Hui Mai seniors met the Otaki Old Boys on the Manakau ground, and' had a good win by 2d points to 6. This proved a very even contest, and a draw, 3 all, was a fair indication of the merits of the team*. ..The second spell was specially exciting. In the latter stages the Wandered attacked hotly, and it looked as if they could not be kept out of the Shannon goal, but the defence held. The visitors then gave the local boys a of their attacking lowers, and made repeated onslaughts on ’the line. On two occasions a score seemed within their grasp, but the efforts miscarried. The visitors , were still pressing their opponents when the final whistle went. The Foxton juniors accounted for Weraroa juniors/ on Saturday by 11 to nil The Foxton boys are showing some of the play that brought them into prominence during the past two seasons. Weraroa has not vet struck much combination, and whi require to get in some training to hold their own with the other juniors of the district, Tokomaru notched their second win on Saturday by defeating Rovers S—o.
