LEVIN POULTRY, PIGEON AND CAGE

BIRD SOCIETY

A meeting of the Society was held 'cts. week, there being present Messrs. F. Swanwick (chairman), A. J. Knight, A Doig, A. Hunter, K Munro, H George, P. Jones, W. I. Williams (secretary). Correspondence was received from Messrs. A. C, Johnstone (Taranaki)/ V/. Hall (Lepperton), W. E. Griffith and W. Inkpen (Palmerston North),' and J. Nixon .(Auckland) stating that j they were eligible as judges for the Society’s forthcoming show. | it was decided that Mr Johnstone oe appointed judge of the fancy poultry, pigeons and canaries, and Mr C. Bryant (president) to judge the utility classes of poultry. In the event >.d Mr Johnstone being unable to judge all his classes, Mr Inkpen to judge the cariarieg.

The schedule for the forthcoming snow on Jfine 30 and July 1 was adopted by the committee, and the secretary was instructed to get csti mate tor printing same. Five North Island championships wil l be competed for at the show, as follows: Golden Wyandotte male, Golden Wyandotte female, Utility Black Orpington male, utility Black Orpington female, and magpie pigeons (any sex). The club is receiving excellent sup port for its show, the following floppies having been received: President’s Cup for best young bird m show; Messrs. E. Almand’s medal, for most points, utility clashes; H. George, ladies’ bracelet; also special prizes fioin A. J. R.-Isherwood, W. Hume, W. R.-Tsherwood, J. Lemmon, P. Jones, J Miiit’o, J. Allan, Palmer, W. Williams a id A. J. Knight.

A strong committee is actively engaged in forwarding the show arrangements and nothing is being left undone to make the first venture of the Society a most successful one. T 1 ere is no doubt that the fanciers of the district, as well as those in more distant centres, will give strong support in the way of entries, and It seems only a matter of time that the Society will become one of the most important in this portion of the North Island.
