RUGBY PRESIDENT RETIRES.
MR MCINTYRE’S SERVICES APPRECIATED.
Before the meeting of. the Horowhenua Rugby Union concluded on Wednesday evening, Mr F. Whibley, of Foxton, referred to the retirement uf Mr J. Mclntyre from the position of president owing to his removal frim the district. The; speaker went on to say that Mr Mclntyre had been connected with the Union for the last L r > years, and during that time had rendered valuable service to football in tliis district. It was to be regretted that Mr Mclptyre was severing hh connection with the- Union, and Mr Whibley movqd that a letter of appreciation of hiS long services be forwarded Mr Mclntyre, and that he be elected a life member of the Union.
Mr W. Bevan (Manakau) seconded the motion.
Mr W. Thomson (Levin) said he had been closely, associated with Mr McIntyre as a member of the Scl|pol Committee, and knew he was a k’en supporter of. the Rugby code. In his younger days Mr Mclntyre had been a player himself, and in his position as schoolmaster always did his best t > instil the best traditions of the game into the boys at the local school. The chairman (Mr E. J. Nash) and Mr .1. W. Procter also supported the motion, the latter stating that Mr Mc-Intyre-was one of the founders of the Horowhenua Union.
The motion , was then put and tarried amidst applause.
