HOUSEHOLDERS' MEETING.

ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEE

The annual meeting of householders was held in the schoolioom on Monday evening, Mr J. W. Murray presiding. The Committee’s annual report was adopted, on the motion oi Mr Quarrie. The balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance of £8 *6/->. was adopted on the motion of Mr Warrington. As this concluded .he Committee’s business for the year, Mr Murray vacated the chair, and was then appointed chairman of the householders’ meeting on the motion of Mr Quarrie. Recommendations from the New Zealand Educational Institute were approved and the mater was leL vo be dealt with at a subsequent meeting of the incoming Committee. 1 z Dentistry for school children received a good deal of attention, the matter being freely discussed after a circular letter from Mr D. S. MacKenzie had been read. It was pointed mi. by Mr Voysey (head teacher) t .that a number of applications had been ceived front parents wishing to fall in with the scheme, and in all probability the system would be under v iy, •in the near future. Mr Wiggins, of Buckley, headed 'a. deputation urging on the incoming Committee the necessity for a conveyance for carrying children to and* from the Shot, non school, fhe chairman sympathised with the deputation, but pou 1ed out that before any progress cciilc be made in this direction it was l'.:st necessary to obtain the number o! children under 10 years of age attending the school from that district, also the distance by nearest road, so that the Committee could make a recommendation to the Education Board accordingly. This the deputation agreed to do. The election of a Committee was then proceeded with, and the following nominations were announced by ihe chairman as having been received up till April 18. Messrs G. Watkins, S. Anderson, D. Laurvig, E. Warrington, T. Watterston, R. Downes, A. Birchall, G. Quarrie, W. Carlyle a?td ,T. Murray. On a ballot being taktn, the chairman declared Messrs. Watkins, Anderson, Warringtop, Watterston, Downes, Birchall, Quarrie, Cu Tlyle and Murray elected. Mr J. W Murray was appointed chairman, and 1 Mr Wm. Carlyle hon. secretary and treasurer.
