MAORI LARD THEATRE.

ANITA STEWART—TO-NIGHT

Observation of the laws and fundamental conventionalities of society, while considered by those who' lead the Bohemian life .to be a useless code followed only by the unenlightened, is nevertheless the only course to pursue in the attaining of real happiness. •''This is the moral forcefully emphasised by Anita Stewart’s latest picture entitled ‘‘Harriet and the Piper,” The star is at all times lovely and appealing in her role of the girl who is fascinated by Ihe seductive “advanced thought” theories and the life led by the natives of the famous Greenwich Village, and she has an undoubted appeal in her many highly emotional scenes.

SESSUE HAYAKAWA ON FRIDAY. Sessue Ilayakawa, the celebrated Japanese star, gives a performance o. surpassing merit in “Li Ting Lang' at the local theatre on 'Friday. The scenes are laid in America and China, in an atmosphere of N college life; statecraft and society. i‘Li Ting Lang” is one of thosq delightful photo dramas evenly peppered with virile, copmianding action and the exotic appeal of the Orient. Doris Pawn s fresh young beauty and her capable acting do much to set off Ha.', akawa s excellent work. The remainder of the cast is equally good. The sett mgs are sumptuous and beautiful, and in striking good taste.
