LEVIN STOCK SALE.
SMALL YARDING OF SHEEP. Wtih the coming of winter months the usual weekly stock sale held in, Levin appears to be decreasing in point ol' entries. On Tuesday there was but a small' entry of sheep, and 'two pens of fats offered by Mr' W. G. Adkin were the only offerings of fats except one huge and solitary wether. This latter sheep in prime condition brought 30/, its dead weight being estimated by'- competent judges at. 1301 b. Fat sheep certainly bring much better prices than they did a couple of months ago, hut yet farmers seem disinclined even at present prices to bring them forward. Of the two pens of fats offered, the lambs brought 16/11 and the other lot, a small pen of wethers and maiden ewes, 17/L Amongst other sheep offered, a good selection of 2, 4 and 6-tooth ewes reached 16/. Two or three lines inpoor condition were passed in. There was a fairly large cattle yarding, and fat cows met with a fair response. One pen of weaiiers offered was an exceptionally fine lot—Jersey grade stock from Mr 11. ... Lancaster’s Fairfield herd. These changed hands at £6. The pig yarding was somewhat larger than usual. Following are the detailed prices reached: —
Pigs.—'Weaners 10/ to 14/, porkers 34/ to £2 10/, baconers £2 12/6 to £3 2/. Sheep.—Store lambs 10/, forward lambs 12/, fat lambs 16/11, mixed-aged ewes 16/. Cattle.—Fat cows £3 12/ to £4 1/, forward cows £3 3/, store cows 36/ to £2 2/, steers 21/ to 30/, yearling heifers £4 to £5 5/, weaner heifers 26/, 28/, to £3 10/. choice Jersey grade heifers £6.
