BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETS.
LAND FOR DWELLINGS,
The Mayor presided over a meeting of councillors on Tuesday evening to consider the land offered for sale to the Council for the erection of workers’ dwellings. There were present Grs. Gardener, Hook, Butt, Hyde, Richardson, Fargher and Spencer.
: Seven sections of land were offered, ranging in price from £275 per acre upwards. , . A committee comprising the Mayor and Crs./Spencer and Butt was set up to inspect the land and obtain an option over the site they considered most suitable. They will report to the Council meeting on Tuesday next.
ROAD AND METAL WORK
The Road Committee was instructed
•to purchase a suitable plough for road work and to bring down a report. for next, meeting with a view to retarring .the streets and tarring the approach tq Stout: Street. It was decided to put on a man and team for metalling work immediately, and form and metal several short pieces of street at Newtown, and also supply culverts to two applicants at the usual cost.
